Our Story

Paw Prints Hotel began with a simple idea: creating a place where dogs could enjoy the same love, comfort, and care they get at home. Whenever we went on holiday, we struggled to find somewhere that felt right for our own dogs. Too often, boarding meant concrete runs, endless barking, and a stressful environment — or relying on family to help out. We knew there had to be a better way.

Our family owned an old hotel in Dunoon, a building with history stretching back to the 1800s. It had been welcoming guests for generations but had stood unused since around 2019. One evening, while driving, the idea just clicked: why not transform the old hotel into a place designed exclusively for dogs? Evelyne loved the idea too, and together we started mapping out how to make it a reality.

Creating Doggy Heaven

What followed was nearly two years of planning, consultations with the local council, and countless phone calls with regulators. Turning a Victorian hotel into a fully licensed dog hotel wasn’t easy — the standards for safety, welfare, and comfort are high (and rightly so). But we were determined to create something special.

After almost two years of planning and nine months of building work, Paw Prints Hotel finally opened its doors. Today, we’re proud to offer Dunoon’s only fully licensed dog hotel — a cosy, homely retreat where every guest is cared for like family. What started as a dream has become our passion: giving dogs the holiday they deserve, in a place where tails never stop wagging.
